VocaBox in the classroom: the full version via Apple School Manager with a volume discount, deployment on Android, and sharing vocabulary with your students.

VocaBox for the classroom

For school use we recommend the full version: bought once, no subscription, no in-app purchases, every feature unlocked. Ideal for giving your students the same, complete app — together with the word lists you prepare as a teacher.

Through Apple School Manager (iPhone & iPad)

Schools distribute the full version centrally through Apple School Manager (the Apps and Books section, formerly the Volume Purchase Program). The benefits:

  • 50% volume discount: educational institutions get a 50% discount when buying 20 or more copies of the same app. Eligible institutions are K–12 organizations and accredited, degree-granting higher-education institutions.
  • Central distribution: through Apple School Manager and your MDM solution you assign the app to devices or users — even if the App Store is disabled on the devices.
  • Licenses stay with the school: purchases belong to the institution; licenses can be revoked and reassigned.

On Android in school

VocaBox is also available on Android as the full version. Deployment runs through managed Google Play and your MDM/EMM solution.

There is, however, no education volume discount comparable to Apple School Manager from Google at the moment — managed Google Play’s bulk license purchasing was discontinued by Google. The app is therefore provided at its regular price.

Sharing vocabulary with your students

You only have to maintain the vocabulary once — sharing it then takes a single tap, with no account and no cloud:

How it works

  1. Put your word list in a box (or folder).
  2. Export it via Share with friends → Export as a .vbxshare file.
  3. Send the file to the class — via messenger, e-mail or your learning platform.
  4. Your students open the file and import it with one tap.
“Share with friends”: import and export in one view.

The .vbxshare file contains the box with all nested boxes, words and images — and it works across platforms, so between iPhone and Android too. The Sharing vocabulary article has the details.
